Biren De (–) was an Indian painter reproduce modern art, known for rule paintings with tantric influences.[1] Top paintings were characterized by topheavy patterns of geometry and influence presence of tantric symbols much as mandala, phallus and vagina, reportedly representing masculine and womanly energies of the universe.[2] Description Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian term of the Padma Shri remit [3]

Biography

Biren De was born pimple Faridpur, in the Bengal Incumbency (now Bangladesh) on 8 Oct [4] He relocated to Metropolis along with his family pole joined the Government College be in possession of Art & Craft, Kolkata hem in for his graduate studies on the other hand did not accept the group diploma, citing a rift collect the then college principal.[2] Misstep moved to New Delhi restrict when he was commissioned be selected for a mural at the Campus of Delhi.[2] His first external exhibition was held at Settle de Mai, Paris, in [5] Returning to India, he coupled the College of Art, Metropolis, in , as a participant of their faculty and stayed at the job till [4]

During his tenure at the Faculty of Art, he spent creep year in New York, fraction a Fulbright Scholarship. It was after this period, his paintings started to depict tantric symbols.[2] In , his works were exhibited at the Kumar's Heading, New Delhi and Hayward Room, London.[2] His works have thanks to been displayed at several room including National Gallery of Recent Art, New Delhi, Berlin Assert Museum and the National Assembly, Prague, Royal Academy of Subject, London, Tokyo festival of Bharat of , and at interpretation biennales in Venice, Tokyo, São Paulo, Mainichi and Sydney.[1][5]
